Jani Suvinen started as a summer worker at Uusioaines in 2005, and at the time he was mainly interested in the familiar and friendly work community. Over the years he has become one of the most versatile professionals in production, a man who knows the wheel loader, foam glass production and quality control inside out.
A career built through practical work
Jani’s current role as a quality inspector is based on long practical experience. He has worked as a process operator, wheel loader driver and in foam glass production, which is why he understands how the entire production process works.
“I have become familiar with all kinds of tasks. That is perhaps the best part, that no two days are exactly the same,” Jani says.
The completion of the new glass plant in 2010 remains a strong memory: “It was a big leap. The plant was much larger than the old one and equipped with modern systems.”
A work community you can easily join
When asked why he enjoys his work, Jani does not hesitate: “The work community is top‑notch.”
He describes the atmosphere as relaxed and open. Colleagues get along well and you can talk about things directly. This reflects the company culture that emphasises safety, interaction and a good everyday atmosphere.
Safety as part of every day
In production, safety is always present. For Jani this means high‑visibility clothing, a helmet, safety shoes and above all awareness.
“I always try to stay aware of my surroundings and report anything I notice. It is in everyone’s interest.”
In 2024 Foamit Group recorded a record number of safety observations, supporting Jani’s experience that the safety culture is strengthening. The most challenging part of the work is dust: “The work is not always the cleanest.” He would also like to see slightly better pay considering the demands of the role.
